Terms and Conditions for users of "The Data Retrieval System of Analog Seismograms of some Japanese Academic Insitutes"

These images of analog seismograms preserved by some Japanese Academic Institutes were created in collaborations with Tohoku Universitiy, Mizusawa VLBI Observatory, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, Kyoto University, Hokkaido University, the University of Tokyo, and the Association for the Development of Earthquake Prediction (ADEP). The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology in Japan (MEXT) partially supported such collaborations in order to enhance the evaluation activities of the Headquarters for Earthquake Research Promotion (HERP) of Japanese government. All rights are reserved. Those who used any part of these scanned images for their research should mention that they used "The Data Retrieval System of Analog Seismograms of some Japanese Academic Insitutes" and specify the credit shown below. Any commercial use of these images is not allowed. Anyone cannot transfer any part of data obtained from this system to third parties. The copyright of all images in "The Data Retrieval System of Analog Seismograms of some Japanese Academic Insitutes" is kept by the Association for the Development of Earthquake Prediction, and each university that holds the original seismograms.

When a user publishes a paper with the data of this system, regardless of the presence or absence of the image itself in the publication, should specify the credit that "We used Digital images in the Data Retrieval System of Analog Seismograms of some Japanese Academic Insitutes prepared by ADEP and some Japanese universities.", and send one copy of the paper to the following address:

We also request to send us the digitized waveform data made by users to compile old seismic waveform data and promote research of old events. Please provide published waveform digital data to be shown in this site with the reference which should be referred in other users of this system.

File format

A highly compressed JPEG2000 file of a size around 1MB made from a 400dpi scanned image of the entire seismogram recorded on a smoked paper. It can be previewed and downloaded. If you are using Mac OS X, JPEG2000 viewer is included. In the case of Windows, you need some viewers of JPEG2000 file.
